Program aim
This program is a double degree for students to enter the profession of teaching with specialisation in secondary science education. (See the Student Dictionary for definition of a double degree, available from http://www.cqu.edu.au/students/index.htm). It provides students with the opportunity to develop as professional teachers through a comprehensive tertiary program and extensive practical experience in schools and the community. This program enables pre-service teachers to prepare themselves to teach a range of secondary science education curriculum areas:
- Biology, Chemistry or Marine Biology to year 12
- Multi-strand science to year 12
- Junior science to year 10
- Mathematics either to years 10 or 12
- other second teaching area to year 10
Curriculum areas are offered depending on the availability of pedagogical studies in education. Graduates are eligible for teaching positions with Education Queensland, Catholic Education and independent schools.
