CHEM12020 Energy and Reactivity

Course description

Offered Winter term every even year. Reaction kinetics; temperature dependence of reactions; the steady state approximation and chain reactions, collision theory and transition state theory. Ionic solutions; equilibrium electrochemistry and its applications. Interfacial phenomena and electrode processes; corrosion, batteries and fuel cells, voltammetry. Surface processes; isotherm equations; heterogeneous catalysis and the growth and structure of solid surfaces.Distance education students will be required to attend a residential school for this course.
