Bachelor of Education (Primary) CQ50

Duration: 4 years full-time study.
Mode: Internal (final year external)
Location(On-Campus): B/G/M/R.
Courses/Units of Credit: 32 courses/192 units of credit.
Faculty: Education & Creative Arts.
Entry: QTAC.
Accreditation: Graduates with the Bachelor of Education (Primary) are eligible for provisional registration with the Queensland Board of Teacher Registration. Full registration is gained following the equivalent of 12 months’ successful full-time teaching.
Practicum/Work Placement: 100 days of fieldwork must be undertaken. 80 days will be completed in schools working with registered teachers, and a further 20 with children in an educational setting.
Residential School: Nil.
Exit Awards: BTeach after 3 years. This award is registerable.

Program Overview

The Bachelor of Education (Primary) is a degree for students wishing to enter the profession of teaching in primary schools. Students who study in the Bachelor of Education have the option of exiting from the program after two years with an Advanced Diploma, or after three years with the Bachelor of Teaching. Within the undergraduate Bachelor of Education, which is an initial teacher education program, students are permitted to select a plan of studies which will provide special skills in one area:

Students wishing to teach in Catholic Education settings may be able to take an alternative program in their 4th year which includes specialist religious education courses.
