Handbook Terminology:

Academic load

The study program of the student determines a student's academic load each term.

A full-time load is not less than 75% of a standard full-time academic load of 48 units of credit taken over the terms of an academic year. A student enrolled for at least 36 units of credit for an academic year is carrying a full-time load. In some instances a student enrolled for 12 units of credit in a single term may be classified as full-time for that term. (Note: international students must maintain a standard full-time academic load of 48 units of credit across the academic year to fulfil visa requirements.)

A part-time load is less than 75% of a standard full-time academic load. In most programs this means an enrolment of fewer than 12 units of credit in a term.
