Commencing student for Research Training Scheme (RTS)
For the purpose of calculating net separations under the Research Training Scheme (RTS), a 'Commencing' student is defined as a student who is identified as an RTS student (coded 42 on Element 380 (HECS Exemption Status)) for the first time in a particular higher degree by research course. Those RTS students (coded 42 on Element 380 (HECS Exemption Status)) reported as transferring, upgrading or downgrading their enrolment under Element 465 (Separation Status) will be excluded from the 'Commencing' student cohort.
