Program aim

This program produces graduates capable of assessing building documentation for codes and standards compliance and inspecting staged works on all classes of buildings.

Prospective students are encouraged to talk to the Program Coordinator about exemptions from the program based on previous study or professional experience. The Faculty has established sets of exemptions for holders of selected TAFE qualifications. Students should actively seek employment in the building industry.

Students should note prerequisite requirements and course availability (in this Handbook) when constructing their program. Courses are offered once annually. It is suggested that courses be studied as shown in the Recommended Study Schedule. The loading may be varied to balance work and family commitments. If assistance is required, contact the Program Coordinator.

Degree with distinction

Students who achieve a GPA of 6.0 and above, in their first attempt result in their enrolled courses over the three years (full-time equivalent) of the program will be awarded a degree with distinction.

Requirements

It is a requirement of this program that all students have access to the CQU World Wide Web site via the Internet. Students may be required to undertake various components of study in the program using email and the Internet.

Students should have a mathematical knowledge equal to a passing grade in Queensland Maths B or an interstate or TAFE equivalent.
