Course description
This course introduces students to construction principles and methods for commercial and industrial buildings, which fall under Class 2 to 9 of the Building Code of Australia, concentrating on low-rise construction and buildings with load-bearing walls up to three stories in height. This course provides a background to the following for the construction of these classes of buildings: principles of fire safety, inspection procedures, temporary structures, waste and water management planning, relationship between design and construction methods and the integration of building services into the building structure. Students should have completed introductory studies in Construction to ensure adequate level of entry knowledge.
