BLAR12034 Building Legislation 1 (NC)
Course description
This course develops a working understanding of the Building Code of Australia (BCA) and associated legislation with a specific focus on Class 1 and 10 buildings defined in the BCA. It provides an introduction to: Statutory controls and assessment; Australian Standards and Codes; Statutory requirements and professional liability related to the building design, regulation and construction industries; and Enforcement proceedings. It will also develop an awareness of how occupational health and safety, environmental and heritage legislation interacts with Volume 2 of the BCA and will also provide an introduction to the principles of performance-based legislation.
