Advanced Diploma of Education (School Support) CQ80 (No new enrolments in 2003)

Duration: 4 years part-time.
Mode and Location: External only.
Courses/Units of Credit: 16 courses/96 units of credit.
Faculty: Education & Creative Arts.
Entry: QTAC. Persons currently working as Teacher Aides and who have three years or more experience.

Program Overview

This program provides personal and professional development for a variety of school support workers like teachers and library aides. Courses of study in the School Support program help students become better skilled in supporting children in the areas of literacy and numeracy and in assisting children with special needs. In addition, elective courses of study allow students to follow areas of professional interest. Selected graduates may be eligible to complete a Bachelor of Education (Primary) (CQ50) or the Bachelor of Education (ECS) (CQ53).

Program Structure

To satisfy the requirements of the award, students must complete 16 courses or 96 units of credit as outlined below.

Electives: The Faculty offers a number of courses of study that focus on literacy, numeracy and children with special needs. Electives are selected dependent on their availability, demand and the advice of the course coordinator.
