Program Overview

The Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Languages other than English) provides graduate students with the opportunity to develop as foreign language teachers through a comprehensive tertiary program, extensive practical experience in schools and other experiences in a range of learning contexts.

The Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Languages Other than English) targets existing registered teachers who wish to obtain a LOTE qualification; or overseas students who wish to teach outside Australia.

Entry

This program is offered for students who have successfully completed a recognised degree. Graduates who have studied a Language other than English for a minimum of 6 terms in their undergraduate program, or who have equivalent experience [in-country experience or a minimum score of 3 on the Australian Second Language Proficiency Rating (ASLPR), or a score of 600 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)] are eligible to apply.

Program Structure

Students will undertake a program of studies based on their needs and courses offered in a given year.

Please note that full-time students usually enrol in four courses per term and part-time students usually enrol in two courses per term per term.

Students must complete 10 courses as follows:
