This program is ideal for school principals, deputy principals, teachers and educators wishing to take up an educational management position and education administrators and executives who wish to extend their practical knowledge and skills in school management. The Master of School Management is a professional degree specialising in quality practice in school management and offers the opportunity to focus practically and critically on daily management experiences in the schooling sector. It aims to meet the professional development needs of school administrators, recognising the major changes affecting their work in education.

Entry

Management experience in an appropriate educational setting. Students must have completed a Bachelor of Education (or an equivalent qualification) or have satisfied the Dean of their competence to undertake the program on the basis of equivalent qualifications. Equivalence may be determined by a combination of:

  • an academic record in a diploma or certificate award of appropriate content and standard;
  • published or unpublished material of appropriate content and standard;
  • satisfactory achievement in master's qualifying programs; or
  • non-award professional development activities and/or work experience;
  • plus evidence of extensive professional experience and non-award programs.

Program Structure

Students must complete 48 units of credit comprising 36 units of credit from courses in list A and 12 units of credit from courses in list B; or 30 units of credit from courses in list A and the courses EDED20289   Research Process in Education and EDED20299   Professional Practicum.
