Program Overview

On successful completion of the Bachelor of Education (LOTE) graduates will be qualified as generalist primary school teachers, LOTE teachers of Japanese (K-12), and specialists in second language acquisition.

The program uses the immersion method with approximately 75 per cent of the programs taught through the medium of Japanese. The “in-country” component experience is recommended but not an essential part of the program during which students spend up to five months in Japan. Part of that time is spent teaching in Japanese primary schools.

Program Structure

Students will complete 32 courses/192 units of credit as outlined below.

Recommended Study Schedule

The following schedule is designed for full-time students who usually enrol in four courses per term. Part-time students should modify this schedule to suit their own needs. Part-time students usually enrol in two courses per term.
