Program outline
This is an interim award for the dual exit Bachelor of Engineering Technology program which is aimed at the training of the technology workforce at the Engineering Technologist and the Engineering Associate levels. In addition to catering for people who have an interest in the application of technology, the Advanced Diploma of Engineering program will provide a continuum of vocational education and training opportunities from post-trade level to the Engineering Associate level.
The program is constructed using courses aligned with the IEAust Engineering competency standards. See CQ68 Bachelor of Engineering Technology program details for streams of specialisation offered.
If you wish to progress to the Engineering Technologist level, you could continue to study full-time and complete your Bachelor of Engineering Technology a year later. Alternatively, you could study part-time for your Bachelor of Engineering Technology while you work as an Engineering Associate.
Some courses may be available only for external study.

Work experience and report
An integral part of the program, and a requirement of the Institution of Engineers Australia for program accreditation, is a minimum of six weeks of approved work experience in an engineering environment. This may be completed during the student vacation(s) or at other times within the first two (if an Advanced Diploma of Engineering is being sought) or equivalent years of enrolment. Students who have appropriate prior work experience may seek exemption from this requirement.
As proof of work experience, students will be required to submit a formal report indicating the type of work done, the degree of responsibility involved, the person(s) to whom the student was directly responsible, and the general activities of the employer. This report should be certified by the employer.
Note that graduation status will not be certified until the Industry Experience report is accepted as satisfactory.
Computing requirements
It is a requirement of enrolment in this program that all students have access to the CQU World Wide Web site via the Internet. Students may be required to undertake various components of study in the program using email and the Internet.
