TOUR11009 Tourism Impacts Assessment
Course Description
The development of tourism has traditionally been viewed as carrying a series of beneficial environmental, social and economic impacts. More recent knowledge suggests that tourism impacts are not always so desirable. This course examines the nature of tourism impacts at the environmental, social and economic levels; the methodologies used for impact assessment purposes; and the legislative frameworks within which impact assessments take place. Assessment includes program work and a final exam worth 30%.
