THTR13065 Drama Performance III
Course Description
In this course students focus on the performance and production of contemporary dramatic works. To prepare for this a practical study is made of major influences on Twentieth century and recent dramatic expression. Influences investigated include: realism, naturalism, surrealism, Epic Theatre, Absurdism, non-Western theatre forms, film and television, new technologies and post-modernity. Also studied is the role of the director and the influence of such artists as Craig, Brecht, Meyerhold, Artaud, Brook, Grotowski and Susuki. Critically, given the artistic and vocational significance of film and television, a central component of the course is acting for the screen.
