RELG19001 Religious Experience and Texts

Course Description

By encouraging students to understand the use of storytelling and written texts in the development of religions, by exploring interpretive and rhetorical issues, methods and perspectives in the reading of sacred texts, and by a focused study of one key scriptural text, this course will facilitate students' awareness of, firstly - the approaches offered by contemporary scholarship in the reading and understanding of religious foundational texts, and secondly - their own location within the broad range of approaches and perspectives introduced.
