PHYS12075 Optics and Lasers

Course Description

This course aims to expand on first level physics to present the applications of wave theory in an optical context. This will cover optical instrumentation, techniques for measuring and quantifying optical phenomena, interference, diffraction and polarisation effects in media, theoretical aspects of lasers; classes of lasers, holography; electro-optical effects; non-linear optics, optical bistability.
