OCHS20018 Law and Management of Occupational Health and Safety

Course Description

This subject is designed to equip the student with a comprehensive working knowledge of current Occupational Health and Safety and Worker's Compensation legislation including Acts, Regulations, Advisory Standards and related legislation. The discussion of law will include the concepts of common law, negligence, duty of care, liability, rehabilitation and an historical perspective of the development of the Commonwealth and State statutory legislation. Legislation pertaining to the states and territories will be discussed. The initiation and management of the safety function, communication, organisational change, quality assurance, and human resources management will be covered. It is a requirement of this course to have access to the CQU website and internet.
