LOTE12005 Communication & Meaning in a Second Language

Course Description

This course further develops the skills and knowledge gained in Effective Communication in a LOTE and Teaching Through a LOTE. A major feature of this course is acquiring skills and knowledge that will help prepare students for their visit to the target country in the following term. The areas of life in the target country and education in the target country are the major foci being addressed through a range of activities taught through immersion techniques throughout this course. The four skill areas of listening, speaking, writing and reading are covered by 100 per cent usage of the Language Other Than English. Opportunities for interaction with target language speakers residing in the target country through various modes of technology also provided in this course. Sociocultural issues are also a large component focusing on the use of appropriate language by students whilst in the target country.
