LOTE11011 Second Language Teaching Methodologies

Course Description

The nature of this course is to introduce students to major and minor issues specific to the field of Language Other than English (LOTE) acquisition. Students will investigate a wide range of methodological approaches available to the LOTE teacher in the classroom. In addition to this, the student will look at the role that the individual plays in the learning process and what factors contribute to differential success among second language learners. The student will develop skills in designing, implementing and evaluating programs associated with teaching Languages Other than English. Knowing about how these differences may affect second language acquisition will enable the prospective teacher to employ appropriate teaching strategies to facilitate learning.
