LAWS11046 Law and the Environment

Course Description

This course aims to provide students with a basic grounding in the context and main sources of Environmental Law in Australia, together with the major State and Commonwealth legislative regimes which collectively comprise Australia's system of environmental regulation. Topics covered include: aspects of the Australian legal system- State- Commonwealth jurisdiction in relation to environmental regulation- environmental property rights- access to and management of the environment- environmental protection and the enforcement of environmental controls- and, an overview of the economic approach to environmental regulation.
