HMSC13022 Advanced Exercise & Work Physiology

Course Description

This course examines the physiology and biochemistry of sport as it relates to specific types of sporting endeavour - the endurance sports, those requiring speed and power, as well as the team games. Workplace practices examined will include assessment of thermal load, metabolic demands and clothing appropriateness. Practical sessions will involve the prescriptive and evaluative procedures used in high performance sport and the workplace with emphasis placed on bridging the gap between theory and practise. Project-based learning is a major emphasis. It is a requirement of this course to have access to the CQU website and the Internet. All external students are required to attend a compulsory residential school at CQU Rockhampton.
