ENTM13005 Mechanical System Design
Course Description
This course aims to develop an understanding of the full design process from problem definition, through concept design and specification, to layout and detail design, finishing with documentation. The importance of applying a systematic approach towards design and the need to consider the problem from many viewpoints will be central to this course. On satisfactory completion of this course, students will be able to: use a systematic apporach to design; develop a problem definition and design specification from a client request; develop concept designs and narrow them down to a final design; complete a detailed design of a piece of mechanical equipment; document a complete design; explain the process for design; and explain the factors which impact on an engineering design.
