Course Description
Educators in the vocational education and training sector are expected to be able to demonstrate communication skills appropriate to the cultures of their workplaces. This course is intended to provide the knowledge and skills to use language for learning in both professional and academic contexts. It focuses on the use of a range of language skills used for expressive (writing, speaking) and receptive (listening, reading) communication. The skills of critical thinking, analysis and synthesis are also covered. Students will also be learning research skills to read and interpret, gather, select, organise and document findings from a number of sources. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to comprehend and construct professional and academic texts within their learning and workplace contexts.
