EDCU19025 Senior School Science
Course Description
The principles identified in Science Curriculum and Pedagogy are extended to a wider range of situations and contexts in this course. The emphasis is therefore on making those principles useful in a practical way in a range of science teaching contexts. Particular contexts addressed include different teaching situations (practical work, field trips), individualised learning, exceptionality in students, social justice issues, teaching in remote areas, and using computers effectively. Aspects of curriculum and planning and assessment related to general science and integration, management and quality teaching and learning are also considered. It will focus on specific science pedagogic knowledge suitable for a range of science topics appropriate from middle primary to lower secondary. This subject is designed for all preservice Science/Maths majors, both primary and secondary. It is also available to other preservice and inservice students with an interest in this area.
