CULT12003 Race Issues and Indigenous Media
Course Description
This course considers how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have been represented in or portrayed by the mass media in news, documentary and entertainment formats. It also investigates positive measures by which Aboriginal people might be given a wider and fairer representation within mainstream media. It goes on to examine the efforts and initiatives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in producing their own media and investigates ways of developing further projects and strategies for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander media.
