Course Description
This course introduces the practice and theory of modern photography, especially in the context of its use within journalism, professional communication, and multimedia. Topics covered will include historical and modern perspectives on photography as news, art and visual culture, and practical considerations such as composition, lighting, and colour. There is a practical focus in this course and all students will be required to produce a portfolio. Students should have their own digital camera or a 35mm SLR camera with access to a scanner. Flex students should have access to software which can process digital images.
