COIT13143 Database Application Development

Course Description

The main focus of this course is database application development technologies and architectures. The development technologies of particular interest are those used to build Internet database applications. Contemporary database server technologies are also covered. This course serves as a database development practicum, providing a platform for database project work, or more advanced studies in database development technologies. Specific topics include: Java and related technologies; ASP and the .Net platform; XML and web services; database forms development using event-driven RAD technology; stored procedures, stored functions, views, and triggers; SQL and its applications. Students will build database forms using event-driven, rapid application development (RAD) technology. Students will also implement a database using SQL Server or Oracle; a stored procedure, a stored function, views, and triggers will be developed.
