COIT12137 Java for Object-Oriented Programmers
Course Description
This course is geared towards programmers with advanced experience in an Object-Oriented Programming language such as C++. It is not an introductory programming course. This course covers fundamental Java programming topics including, graphical interface programming using the Abstract Windows Toolkit, applets and security, threads and exceptions, network programming, and database connectivity. NOTE: Students must have regular access to the Internet and an email account. Students must have access to an Internet enabled Personal Computer capable of running the Sun Microsystems Java2 Software Development Kit (SDK) (Win32 Version for Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows NT 4.0 operating system on Intel hardware, a 486/DX or faster processor with 32 megabytes RAM minimum, 48 megabytes RAM is recommended).The Java2 SDK is available as a free download off the Internet. This course was previosly known as Internet Programming. Students MUST NOT attempt both courses.
