Course Description
This course provides an understanding of fire safety design for Building Surveyors. It includes studies into: Causes of fire and smoke in buildings; Building structure and materials behaviour in fires; Toxic gases; Cost & risk; Fire fighting; Detection and control systems; Active and passive fire protection systems; Fire compliance requirements and responsibilities.
It also provides an introduction to prescriptive and performance based solutions for fire safety design and available software packages.
