Course Description

This course develops an understanding of construction planning and scheduling including: the role of the construction planning consultant. Developing an initial job appreciation relating to labour, materials, plant and time. Understanding the sources of data (Documentation, estimates, Bill of Quantities). Construction Planning methodologies. Construction Planning tools including bar charts, critical path analyses and applications, line of balance, level of Detail. Incorporating design processes, product and design approvals into construction planning. Cash flow projections. Detail schedules for sub-contract activity including analysis of assembly and production, bar charts and critical pattern analysis, line of balance, least cost optimisation, multiple activity chart planing and control, expediting contracts. Use of computer programs in scheduling and network analysis and introduction to management software.
