Duration: 2 years part-time
Mode & Location: external. Courses offered on–campus may be taken with the approval of the Dean.
Courses/Units of Credit: 8 courses/48 units of credit

Entry: QTAC (No new enrolments in 2003). Students should have completed a three year Diploma of Teaching or Bachelor of Teaching (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a teacher. Those not meeting these requirements may be permitted to enrol with the status of a three year qualification, or may be required to complete additional courses. Students will be advised of additional requirements at time of enrolment.
Accreditation: The Bachelor of Education (Inservice) is a fourth year qualification for practising teachers with a two to three year qualification.

Program Overview

The Bachelor of Education (Inservice) is an undergraduate degree for teachers who wish to up–grade their qualifications.

The program focuses on the professional development of teachers and aims to broaden and deepen their knowledge base by providing them with opportunities to:

Program Structure

There are no compulsory courses.

Students may elect to take up to 2 courses (of a similar level) from another undergraduate degree course at CQU or another university. Similarly, students may elect to take up to 2 courses from other courses offered by the Faculty. Students wishing to take either of these options should discuss their plans with the Course Coordinator and must obtain the permission of the Dean prior to enrolment in those courses.

The following list of courses will be offered subject to a sufficient number of student enrolments.

Recommended Study Schedule

The following schedule is designed for full-time students who usually enrol in four courses per term or 24 units of credit. Part-time students should therefore modify this schedule to suit their own needs The normal study load for part-time students is two courses per term or 12 units of credit per term.

  1. Students who have previously completed EDED11275 Cultural Foundations of Education are excluded from enrolling in EDVT11017   .
  2. Students who have previously completed INDG11001 Aboriginal Society and Culture Contact are excluded from enrolling in EDED11277   .
  3. Students who have previously completed EDED11137 Assessment of the Learner are excluded from enrolling in EDED11345   .
  4. Students who have previously completed EDVT11012 Contemporary Issues in PAVE are excluded from enrolling in EDVT12003   .
