Master of Family & Community Health CF46

This program aims to prepare health, welfare, education and other community professionals to function in a rapidly changing health care system.

Students will be able to identify and critique the advanced knowledge and skills required by health professionals to systematically analyse the current health status of populations, communities and families. They will design and critique strategies for meeting identified health needs for populations, communities and families; critically analyse ways in which health care professionals may contribute to health policy at a local, regional and national level, and reflect on the future development of the advanced role for health professionals in family and community health and its impact on the health care delivery system.

Entry

All applicants will be assessed on a case by case basis as to their eligibility for the course.

International students must meet English language requirements.

Special Entry

Candidates who do not possess an appropriate bachelor's degree but can demonstrate evidence of advanced knowledge and work experience in a health care discipline may, on a case by case basis, receive entry to the program. However they will be required to successfully complete, at the level of credit or above, two qualifying courses.

Program Structure

Graduate Certificate in Family & Community Health

To satisfy the requirements of the award, students must compete three courses or 24 units of credit as outlined below:

Graduate Diploma of Family & Community Health Streams

To satisfy the requirements of the award, students must complete six courses or 48 units or credit as outlined below.

There are two streams of study. The first stream is recommended to nurses who would like to have a career change to community-based nursing and the second stream is recommended to community health nurses who would like to strengthen nursing skills in order to provide care to clients with acute illnesses.

Application for Credit Transfer

Credit transfer will only be granted where a student is able to demonstrate that tertiary studies equivalent in content and depth to the CQU program has been successfully completed.
