Bachelor of Professional Education (Japanese) CU30Duration: 4 years full-time.Mode: Internal. Location(On-Campus): R. Courses/Units of Credit: 32 courses/192 units of credit. Faculty: Education & Creative Arts. Entry: QTAC. Applicants are requested to contact the Faculty regarding entry. It is desirable that applicants have some Japanese language experience. However, students without this experience are also invited to apply. Accreditation: Graduates are eligible for provisional registration with the Queensland Board of Teacher Registration. Full registration is gained following the equivalent of 12 months successful, full-time teaching. Practicum/Work Placement: 100 days of Fieldwork must be undertaken. Fieldwork is undertaken at the students expense. 80 days will be completed in schools working with registered teachers, and a further 20 in an educational setting. Residential School: Nil. Exit Awards: Diploma of Professional Education after 8 courses of study; Advanced Diploma of Professional Education after 16 courses of study; Bachelor of Training (International) after 24 courses of study. Graduates will be eligible to work as teachers of Japanese and in another discipline area in secondary schools. In addition, they will be able to seek employment in their chosen plan area. This program is a comprehensive tertiary program delivered through Japanese immersion and extensive practical experience in schools, industry, the community and in Japan. EntryThe Bachelor of Professional Education (Japanese) degree enables students to obtain sufficient courses of study to have 2 teaching areas to Year 12. Courses in the proposed elective section of the course will consist of 8 electives chosen from any Faculty/discipline area. Students intending to apply for teaching positions with independent schools such as Catholic Education and/or other Christian schools, may be required to show evidence of studies in religion. EDCU19017 Religious Curriculum & Pedagogy I Elective is the course that the Rockhampton Catholic Education Office deems appropriate for potential teachers to have studied.
