MUSC11404 Popular Music Songwriting

Course details

Students use contemporary song creation techniques in conjunction with industry preferred music software, to explore the processes and creative impetus in developing song structures used in contemporary popular music. Stylistic idioms used in Dance, Techno, Hip-Hop, Latin and other World Music inspired song genres will be contextualized in relation to formally established songwriting forms and traditional means of expression and communication.

While music theory knowledge is not assumed it is advised that students have some basic music background.
