Course details
International and Electronic Business provides a background to international trade in the 21st Century. In the first part of the course, international business is considered through an overview of international trade theory in a modern business environment, followed by international trade theory and its application. The course considers the nature of firms that operate in the international marketplace, and identification of issues that give rise to internationally competitive countries. International integration and international institutions (such as the World Trade Organisation) are discussed before ending the section with discussion on ethics and 'corruption' in an international business context. An introduction is given followed by modules on the impact of e-business and the barriers to e-business. The role of the internet and www are discussed with privacy and security issues. Finally, a brief overview is given of integrating back-office operations to provide an insight of the implementation of e-business within an organisation.
