COIT20223 Operating Systems Fundamentals

Course details

This course is geared towards students who have had little or no experience in operating systems and system administration. This course is the first in a sequence of two operating systems courses that will give the student an understanding of the principles, and practice, of networked operating systems and their administration. This course covers structured operating systems fundamentals. The second course covers operating systems administration. This course is designed to assist students in learning the basic principles of operating systems. It will cover the areas of data and file structures and management. The use of distributed software application, network maintenance and monitoring. Process engineering and scheduling. Developing systems using software engineering design principles and understanding the threats imposed by external and internal forces. It is essential that the student have regular use of a computer on which they can load LINUX. The student must also have regular use of a computer that is connected to the Internet.
