MUSC12405 Musimathics

Course details

This course introduces students to the mathematics of music and the manner in which arithmetic procedures in sound arts are mediated to some extent by software and hardware audio technologies. Students should demonstrate a knowledge of how the materials of music (notes, intervals and scales) are related to the physical properties of sound (frequency, amplitude, duration, and timbre); music perception and cognition (how we hear) and how these relationships inform sonic art design and music composition.
