Course details
Students develop skills in computer aided drafting to design and detail electrical and electronic devices, systems and installations. They apply common drafting practices, design standards and manufacturers product information needed to prepare project drawings and documentation. They interpret and produce schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, circuit board layouts, logic diagrams, architectural and equipment layouts and component details for electrical and electronic devices. Students explain the roles of design team members and processes used to manage design and project information and documentation. They develop skills required to communicate using electrical/electronic design terminology, plan and manage design projects, work professionally and learn both collaboratively and independently.
Distance education (FLEX) students are required to have access to a computer and to make frequent use of the Internet. They also require access to AutoCAD Computer Aided Drafting software to complete assignment tasks.
