Course details
The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the mechanical properties of bulk solids, and to develop skills in the design of equipment to handle bulk solids. It describes bulk materials properties, flow characteristics and typical materials handling components and systems. Students analyse and design bins, hoppers, feeders, belt conveyor systems and pneumatic conveyor systems. Students work autonomously and in teams to learn, solve problems and complete projects and tests. The course seeks to develops professional communication skills and a commitment to safe, professional and ethical behaviour.
