Course details

This course contains an overview of Western music from the early Baroque period (ca 1600) to the present day, including a study of the popular musical styles of the twentieth century (jazz, music theatre, contemporary popular). Particular attention is given to the study and analysis of primary source materials relevant to each period together with an overview of the sociological and political events that influenced various music trends during each period.
