Handbook Terminology:

Leave of absence

This term has multiple definitions:

  1. For a student, a leave of absence is an authorised break from study. A student may notify the University of their intention to discontinue their enrolment and may at the same time request leave of absence for a number of terms, indicating an intention to return at the end of the period.
  2. For a Central Queensland University (CQU) staff member, a leave of absence is an authorised period of leave. This may include recreation leave, sick leave, long service leave, outside studies program (OSPRO), or any other authorised form of leave.
