ENAC12004 Computer Aided Drafting and Design (Civil)

Course details

This course extends the knowledge and skills developed in Computer Aided Drafting, applying them to the design of drawing details and preparation of project plans for civil and structural construction projects such as pipelines, rural roads, subdivisions, retaining walls and building structures. Students work with an engineer's design, obtain relevant design standards, manuals and handbooks, research manufacturers' product information and specifications and apply this information to prepare design details and project drawings. They determine quantities and estimate volumes using contour plans, longitudinal and cross sections. Drawing projects provide students with opportunities to demonstrate professional teamwork and communication and support collaborative learning.

Distance education (FLEX) students are required to have access to a computer and to make frequent use of the Internet.
