MUSC11369 Aural & Practical Musicianship I

Course details

In order to develop aural perception of the elements of music in a range of different musical idioms, this course is offered to provide students with regular ensemble performance training and opportunities to perform in a range of music ensembles thus developing a sense of professional commitment to performance as well as the opportunity to develop aural and practical musicianship skills. The practical musicianship skills developed through participation in a range of musical ensembles are underpinned by theoretical study in aural musicianship. The theoretical studies aim to develop aural acuity relating to pitch, melody, rhythm and harmony. Each succeeding course in Aural and Practical Musicianship will require students to demonstrate a greater degree of both interpretative and executant skill development in their ensemble performance and a higher degree of aural acuity.
