Career Opportunities
Building surveyors (level 1) enforce, advise and interpret laws and regulations controlling building and construction and work for local government, state and federal authorities, including licensing and code boards, and private certifiers.
About Building Surveying
Do you want to be able to certify residential and commercial buildings? Building surveyors are able to certify buildings ranging from family homes to multi-store commercial buildings. Whether you wish to work in a large city or smaller regional town, you will find there are opportunities for building surveyors. Graduates of the program will be able to interpret building and construction regulations and advise clients of suitable industry practices.
Studies cover courses associated with building legislation including performance based solutions, building auditing, fire safety design and inspection procedures along with construction, building materials, services, professional practice and communication. Principles of sustainability are integrated throughout the program.
CQU's building environment field of study is designed with students' needs in mind. Offered exclusively by distance education mode, programs are completed part-time while you are working or seeking employment in the industry.
