EDED20456 Design of Pedagogy 1

Course details

This course draws upon brain-based research to inform teaching and learning practices to maximise learning for students.

It requires students to examine their understanding about curriculum and the assumptions that underpin the curriculum frameworks used in their particular context. As part of this analysis, students will explore challenges associated with the implementation of curriculum that aligns with pedagogy and assessment in a context of accountability and system concerns about outcomes. Students will examine the necessity to have a written curriculum plan that has academic rigour (see New Basics) that is enacted through the design of pedagogical strategies to achieve learning.

The course examines concepts of curriculum, selection of declarative and procedural knowledge for inclusion in the curriculum, pedagogical strategies for implementing curriculum and the management of learning sites. Students will engage with the
relevant curriculum framework to their context to plan and implement learning experiences.
