THTR11108 Acting & Dance for Music Theatre 1

Course details

This course has two equally weighted modules: dance for music theatre and acting for music theatre. In the Dance for Music Theatre module, students will develop skills in dance technique and performance relevant to the music theatre genre. In the Acting for Music Theatre module students will develop an understanding of the elements of drama through movement and dramatic expression. Student work in this course is tailored to meet each student's particular learning needs and the content is negotiated with the lecturer to ensure that the course value adds to the student's learning and to their program of study. This course aims to develop the highest possible interpretative and executant ability of the chosen repertoire. Each succeeding course in Acting and Dance for Music Theatre will require students to demonstrate a greater degree of interpretative and executant skill development. Safe practices for injury prevention for dancers and actors will be emphasized, together with the development of appropriate warm-up routines for dance, movement and acting
