MGMT19118 Procurement and Supply Management

Course details

This is the introductory course for all Procurement and Supply Management students. It is intended to acquaint students with the various roles which procurement and supply managers carry out in a range of organisations. There are similarities across all organisations whether they be public or private, mining, manufacturing, retail or service organisations. Of course there are significant differences in the type of activity and the priorities given to differing objectives. In some cases e.g. sourcing and provision of spare parts, service may be the key factor, in other cases e.g. the purchasing, receipt and storage of a bulk product, cost may be the key factor. Whatever the organisation procurement and supply management are important processes, and are often undervalued even in today's competitive world. For many students this course has been the start of an interesting and financially rewarding career.
