EDFE20033 Graduate Internship

Course details

This is a compulsory component of initial learning manager preparation. It involves an extended, continuous learning experience undertaken at a learning site (school, TAFE, childcare setting). The emphasis of this internship is professional growth and commitment to teaching and learning. Professional growth is enhanced through pre-service learning managers working in collegial environments with the support and mentoring of learning managers. Throughout the internship the pre-service learning manager will have the opportunity to progressively take on increased responsibility for the management of the learning environment. Internship provides a guided partnership between an intern and a Learning Manager. The internship provides a period of sustained professional practice during which interns can consolidate the link between theory and practice. Interns will build upon their existing skills, enabling them to become autonomous, reflective, collaborative managers of learning ready to enter the teaching profession.

Students are required to demonstrate all four outcomes of the GDLT in this course as a beginning practitioner who is workplace ready and futures oriented with authorisation to teach.
