Program aim
This program is designed to give graduates, especially those employed or likely to be employed in the computing/information systems area, the opportunity to improve their management skills and upgrade their knowledge of computer-based information systems.
Program structure
GCIS is for students with an insufficient level of formal computing education.
Students must complete the following.

Note: ECOM20001 is a Level 2 course and can not be studied concurrently with COIS20024 and COIS20025, and hence is an unsuitable option for some full-time students.

Transition
Students who began the program prior to Term 1, 2005 will be allowed to graduate under the previous structure if they wish, or choose to graduate under the present structure.
Entry GCIS
- a bachelor degree or equivalent qualification or
- a recognised Diploma and a minimum of 2 years of relevant communication and information technology experience or
- a minimum of 5 years of relevant communication and information technology experience
Guidlines for work experience entry requirement
- resume from applicant detailing employment history
- secondary and post secondary Certificates
- evidence from employer (past and present) on company letterhead
- evidence of proficiency in the English language (international students)
Computer equipment resources
Students will require access to a computer and printer. Access to the Internet is required. The suggested minimum requirement is an IBM compatible computer. Hardware and software specifications change rapidly. Therefore, if buying a new computer, students should purchase the best quality and highest capacity they can afford. CQU campuses have computers that may be accessed by studens whilst in the course of their studies. On various campuses computer libraries are available on a 24-hour basis or extended beyond normal working hours.
